Real Estate Investment Education, Coaching and Mentoring Programs

Real estate investment can be a lucrative venture, but it can also be a risky one, especially for beginners. That is why many aspiring investors turn to real estate investment coaching and mentoring programs. These programs are designed to provide guidance, education, and support to individuals who want to invest in real estate. In recent years, there’s been an explosion in the number of programs, mentorships, coaching, seminars and self professed “gurus” all willing to take your money in exchange for showing you the insider secrets and shortcuts to obtaining real estate wealth.

However, a better approach for those just starting out is to spend some time and effort on your own to educate yourself through free and low cost resources. Before paying for expensive coaching, mentoring or education, you should have a good handle on what aspects of real estate investing align with your skills and talents, your available financial resources and time.

Don’t make the mistake of paying for expensive programs that largely teach you what is readily available for little or no financial investment. Don’t kid yourself that by putting thousands on your credit card to sign up for a course that you are taking real action! If you’re considering this, I urge you to watch this video. Brandon Turner breaks down in more detail what to watch out for with real estate education “scams”.

Here are his specific recommendations to take real action before you decide to invest your money in one of these programs:

  • Listen to at least one hundred episodes of a real estate education podcast
  • Read fifteen real estate investing books
  • Engage in one hundred conversations in a real estate investing community discussion forum
  • Take twelve real estate investors to lunch or coffee
  • Analyze one hundred real estate deals, walk through a dozen open houses, attend at least three real estate meet-ups in your area.
  • Be living responsibility by spending less than 70% of what you earn

Should you decide to pursue paid coaching and training, here are some of the benefits of investing with a education, coaching or mentoring program and what to look for in a program:

Access to Expert Knowledge

Real estate investment coaching and mentoring programs provide access to expert knowledge that is not readily available to the public. These programs are usually led by experienced and successful investors who have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field. They can share their expertise and offer valuable insights and advice on how to invest in real estate successfully.

Personalized Coaching and Mentoring

Real estate investment coaching and mentoring programs offer personalized coaching and mentoring tailored to their clients specific needs. Mentors and coaches work closely with their clients to develop customized investment strategies that are tailored to their specific needs and goals. This personalized approach helps clients maximize their investment potential and achieve their financial objectives.

Real estate investment coaching and mentoring programs provide accountability and support to their clients. Mentors and coaches hold their clients accountable for taking action and provide guidance and support when needed. This accountability helps clients to stay on track and achieve their investment goals.

Networking Opportunities

Real estate investment coaching and mentoring programs offer networking opportunities for their clients. Participants can connect with other investors and industry professionals, which can help them to expand their knowledge, gain new insights, and access investment opportunities. Networking can also help participants establish valuable business relationships that can make the connections needed to establish a team, build a business more quickly and identify investment opportunities more efficiently.

Consider Drawbacks

While there are many benefits to be gained from real estate investment coaching and mentoring programs, there are also some drawbacks to consider. Here are a few:

Real estate investment coaching and mentoring programs are often expensive. Some programs charge thousands of dollars for their services, which can be prohibitive for most new investors. It is important to carefully consider the costs of a program and determine whether the potential benefits outweigh the expenses. Money you spend on coaching and education might be better used on actual investing activities and you gain an education from real experience.

Quality of Program Leaders, Coaches and Mentors

Not all real estate investment coaching and mentoring programs are created equal. Some programs may promoted by a charismatic, famous, highly successful figure head, but the actual coaching and mentoring is led by inexperienced or unqualified individuals who do not have a proven track record of success in real estate investing. It is important to research the thoroughly, the program leaders and to also ensure that coaches and mentors you’ll work with have the knowledge and experience necessary to provide the services you are paying for.

Choosing a Program

A program that aligns to your goals, that goes deep into the specifics of strategies you wish to implement, that provides experienced support and coaching, that connects you with a network and community of investors, partners and contacts can be a valuable investment. Be sure you know what you need from a program before handing over a credit card or writing a check, you might end up getting little in return, setting you back even further from where you started.

If you do choose to go ahead and pay for education, coaching and mentorship programs, it’s important that you go into it with the knowledge and understanding that it will not substitute for the work, dedication and effort you’ll need to put into it – nothing will happen without your personal effort. Be wary of promises of easy deals, quick riches and anyone pitching “insider secrets”. The biggest secret with real estate investing is that there are few secrets. The information to be successful can be obtained through study, connecting with other professionals in your market, and rolling up your sleeves to get hands on experience. This isn’t a business that will get you rich quickly, done right though you can build a business that brings lasting wealth.
